Scott Britt & Britt Custom Metrix
In recent years the metric cruiser market has skyrocketed and so has the demand for high-end one-off custom metric bikes. Scott Britt got his initial start in the motorcycle industry in 1976, when he began working at his father's Yamaha dealership in Wilmington, North Carolina, Britt Motorsports is now a multi franchised multi location dealership creating the most radical custom metric motorcycles in the U.S. Britt Custom Metrix http://brittcustommetrix.com prides themselves in being one of the founders of the ever growing metric custom movement you see taking to the streets daily.
In December of 1999 Scott Britt's Yamaha ‘Speedstar’ was the first metric custom to ever grace the cover of Easyriders’ VQ Magazine and is still the only metric motorcycle to do so. In addition, it has won countless awards at shows, including Daytona's Rats Hole and Boardwalk Bike Show. Since 1999, they have built countless one-off customs for metric owners nationwide and supplied their exclusive parts worldwide. In 2004, Scott had 9 of his creations featured in magazines.
"I certainly realize and appreciate that American motorcycles have grown the marketplace to the point that it is now a lifestyle and new generation of enthusiast,” says Scott. “The creativity and diversification of today's builders continue to amaze me. I get the creativity for so many versions of custom metrics as I watch so many different builders display their artistry in motorcycles. It has been a long journey listening to negative remarks about building a custom foreign motorcycle to now watching some of the major builders looking at metric powerplants to fuel new ideas".
The bike you see (look for more pics below) here features
a one-off Britt custom rigid frame and tank, a 280 rear tire, a stock Yamaha 102 cubic inch air-cooled 45 degree pushrod v-twin motor, and of course Supreme Legends controls. “I'll take credit for the design and most of the paint, but it’s the abilities of so many around me that make it successful," intones Scott.
Britt Custom Metrix offers Supreme Legends controls exclusively on all the customs that roll out of their shop. “Our customers aren’t made of money so superior quality at a reasonable price is what we aim to deliver and Supreme Legends helps us do just that,” says Bud Milza, BCM’s general manager. Britt’s sells new and used custom metric motorcycles through their website, as well as custom parts. All their fabrication is done in-house and they have an on-site paint facility.
Britt Custom Metrix has also just finished competing in a Metric Bike Build-Off vs. Tim Edmonson, founder of American Ironhorse Motorcycles. If you haven't been following the build, go out and get a copy of this month’s RoadBike Magazine to see their custom rigid 2000cc Kawasaki Vulcan. We’ll give you one guess whose controls are on it!
